  • Tarpon Maiden Voyage - Weems Creek 8/2

Took my first trip on my new Tarpon 100 today from the tucker street ramp into weems creek.
First fish on my new yak was an 11" Striper

After that I caught a few perch and then this guy!

    My first ever!
In total I caught about 8-10 perch 7-9.75", 10-12 Striper 4-12" and the Redfish.
    Here is the biggest Perch:

All in all a pretty good quick first trip on my new yak!

Awesome Ryan. Wish I could be there but traffic sucks today from VA. My daughter was sad when we turned around and headed back home. Will hit the Creek tomorrow afternoon since I will be busy this weekend.

I meant to take a picture of it on the beach, but I forgot. I got some goodies coming in the mail from Hook 1. I'll post a pic once I get the goodies installed.

Congratulations on your new kayak and the nice redfish. What type of lure/bait was used to catch the redfish? Shallow or deep water? Thanks.

Congrats- Ryan- we are seeing redfish from the mouth of the Patuxent all the way up the Bay- we all are catching a number of them- must have been a heck of a hatch- can't wait until they grow up and give some awesome pullage-

              John,
I caught the red on a small road runner jighead with a 2 1/2" pumpkinseed gulp alive minnow. I'm really not sure how deep the water was since I dont have a fish finder on my new yak yet, but it was caught just before the rowe blvd bridge on the right side heading up the creek in front of the grassy shoreline.

Nicely done. It's always good to catch fish on a yak's maiden voyage.

Thanks. If you caught it there, they should be in all the regular shoreline spots.

I hit it last night with my daughter. Left my house around 2:30 and didnt get there until 5pm. Traffic was bad yesterday. Good thing we left early.

Hit the piers and up the creek. Then head back near the mouth during high tide. Did quite well with perch(10" avg) and rockfish(9 - 12"). Right around high tide the hit starting. Lost a few tails from the grub on a few good hit. Must be big fishes. Overall, pretty good fishing for us. My daughter got a few crabs as well with the net. About 6" size. When we came back to the ramp, 2 firetrucks pulled up with their lights on. I thought we did something wrong since we've fished here this late. They approached us and asked if we see any fires. I told them earlier we both smelled smoke but thought someone was cooking. We're not sure where though.

I need to see how much that last house is selling for My daughter loves this place.

Nice work! I had a few bite offs in there too. The culprit is probably bluefish. It is a nice little creek.
