A bit late but here it is nonetheless...

I headed out to the Bay Bridge on Sunday. It was WINDY... and rough... strong current, big swells, lots of whitecaps, waves crashing on the bridge pilings... in short, awesome!

While battling the waves, I did manage to get some fishing in...

Trolled some xraps for a bit with no luck, then caught my first croaker, on bloodworms.



I jigged the pilings with BKDs and hooked up with a cownosed ray. What a battle! Props to the Trevala XXL for surviving the fight. After 10 minutes of getting pulled around, I had the ray boatside and was holding on to the leader when it freaked out, splashed me all over and broke the 40Lb leader. I was exhausted.





I only caught 1 more small croaker before a coming storm forced me to quit before I could catch the striper I had come for.

Nice Mike. I've wanted to catch a ray to feel the strength of it...must have been exciting on the yak. Still never fished the BB yet.

Yup feels like a snagged lure... Than you relieze after trying to pull it loose... It's moving. They will pull line out and it's a nice fight for your first time. After that.... It's a pain

I feel your pain, Mike- I've caught two of those damn Cownose Rays on back to back trips at St. J's Creek- each after 30-35 minute battles- they are tough creatures-
