  • Benedict Bridge 8/5

I wasn't going to go because of the impending storm but since I couldn't get out Saturday I couldn't stay home. I didn't launch until 09:30. It was ridiculously windy. There were small size white caps but the perch were biting. I launched from the boat ramp and slowly headed towards the power plant. I was using baby shrimp and they were smacking them. There were plenty of those annoying baby croackers too.

The waves were so random it made it impossible to ignore them. Some poor guy in a jon boat was t-boned by one and capsized. I must say that the Hobie PA held her ground. She rocked and rocked but at no time did I feel unsafe in it.
Sorry I didn't take any pix but all I had was my phone and after seeing that guy loose all his gear I wasn't taking any chances.

Benedict is on rt231 and the launch is right before the bridge

Yikes! At least the fish were biting even if the conditions weren't ideal. That area of the river is often windy, at least every time I go to fish it. I guess it is open from a lot of different directions...
