Got the kayaks out on the sound this afternoon and fished around. My son caught this fish on a 1/4 ounce jig and a gulp shrimp. Thanks to Pinch for the helpful tips. I'm not sure what the fish is, but my son said it put up a big fight. He also had a totally different species on his gulp shrimp for a few seconds. It was larger and longer and silver, but didn't get a good look at it. Both fish were shallow near grass.
