8/14/11 selby bay reds rocks blues and 2 more weird catches

today i caught 6 red fish all on live menhaeden biggest was 16.5 (getting bigger!) . also probly 40 rockfish biggest was 17 . had a 20-25 inch rock on a live menhaeden that spit the hooked right before netting it . caught only 3 blues today which sucked biggest was only 11.5 caught alot of spot croaker perch. 2 weird things. 1 20 inch needle fish hooked on a shad dart with a strip of spot on it under a bobber. i also caught a 7 inch pinfish on fishbites i would never be happy about that in nc but its kinda cool here.

Cast net when they are close enough to trhow at and snagg if they are to far out but I only use the. snagged ones for cut bait . They are everywhere

last week i was fishing on a pier when breaking fish started working closer and closer. it looked like menhaden and i waited and watched. finally within throw, i cast the net.

a dense school of 3" white perch surface feeding. (released) never expected that!
