i caught a weird species of stingray in the south river, nope its not a cownose

caught this guy on cut spot today while fishing for b;ues and drum. thought it was a flounder then realized it was a ray but .ive never caught one like this in the bay . i do in north carolina but i didnt know this species of ray came up this far in the bay.

I can't tell for sure, I but I think it's a clearnose skate. Where was the stinger?

on the tail someone on tidalfish said its a southern stingray

yeah not clearnose ray ive caught too many of them. i think they call that an atlantic stingray

Yep, atlantic stingray. I had one swim right by me at Hooper's Island while I was wading with the crab net. It chased a crab right to me.

Southern Stingray looks like a skate- only difference is the stinger is in the base of the tail
