Janes Island and the Tangier Sound Report

Some of you may remember me searching for tips earlier in the month about how to fish the Tangier out of Janes Island State Park, and I finally have a report to share. My father and I were lucky enough to dodge the mosquitos long enough to enjoy the beautiful park and awesome water. Fishing was slower than I am used to, but I think we did well fishing blindly (w/o a fish finder), in a brand new area. In about 6 hours worth of fishing and paddling, we were able to reel in 7 puppy drum, all over 14 inches and a 15 inch speck. Here are a few choice photos to share. Had a great time!!

A keeper trout your first time out is nothing to sneeze at. Very cool. I almost always write off my first trip to a new place as a recon trip.
