Was on the water at 0800 hrs. Partly sunny. Pretty good day. Lots of boats out there.
Used a double lure rig (jig w/ curly tail) and worked inside of the Inlet. Caught on outgoing tide that wasn't too bad. I also fished the docks, the Rt 50 bridge, along the bulkheads (1st to 5th St) and along Oceanic Pier. The current at the bridge is pretty quick - I don't see how you can fish it well. Didn't stay long anyway. The chops in the channel north of the bridge can get pretty rough. Got a wet ride, and passing boats didn't help the waves either.
Seemed like a fair day. I saw only one person catch a flattie on a head boat with over a dozen anglers. Blues were caught by boaters here and there. One guy caught a short flattie. I caught sea bass, bluefish and a bunch of croakers. One croaker was the second biggest I've ever caught at 17".
