Fished HH today from 7 until noon. Only caught only 2 rock, each about 16". Both were caught on my mini umbrella rig. Unfortunately, it got snagged and after a long time trying to unhook it, I eventually lost it. Ah well, I'll have to make another. At any rate, the water was above 80 and the water clarity was poor. I won't be back for a little while, perhaps later in the fall it'll be good. Just a heads up for some folks looking to get out. I'd pass on HH for the moment.

That's pretty much the same thing I found there about 2 weeks ago... dirty water, couple low/mid teen stripers and smallish wperch and one 15" blue. Maybe by early October things might be happening there.Howard

Its crazy how quickly things changed. Last sunday there were fish everywhere in the area (although mostly small) and the water was pretty clear. The next day I coudnt find barely any fish and the water was pretty murky...and it seems the same conditions are still holding.Comment

Ryan - Two weeks ago I encountered big schools of dink stripers just out from the HH ramp. I could have easily caught dozens of 8"-10" stripers... but stripers that small aren't worth catching or counting.
And the water clarity thing sorta baffles me too. Sometimes it seems clarity can change markedly within the span of a couple of tide cycles. Other times dingy, low-visibility water can persist for weeks.
There is a water quality CBIBS buoy located in the Patapsco that monitors turbidity. I compare the buoy's turbidity reads with what I see while fishing the HH area in my canoe. Rarely is there any correlation between the two. I'm guessing the buoy is too far away from HH ramp to be of any use when fishing the HH area. Here's the link to the CBIB buoys. Look it over. This buoy collects lots of good information useful to fishermen.
