  • Beautiful Day - Beautiful Potomac

I went to the Potomac this morning and could only fish for a few hours. It was absolutely beautiful outside. I caught about 6 smallies and 1 big sunfish.

I caught several on the beetle spin and then didn't catch anything for a while.

Eventually I figured out that it was a buzz bait day. Unfortunately, I was near the end of my float when I figured that out. I had probably 9 blow ups on the buzz bait and caught 3 or 4 of them.

One of the blow ups was a very big splash, but the fish didn't stay on. I should have stayed out there and kept fishing the buzzer, but was a good man and got home to do some stuff around the house.

My camera battery died so I only got 2 photos. Normal Potomac sized smalles in the 9-12 inch range were caught.

The upper Potomac has been crystal clear for my trips in August and September. Water levels are low and all the grass keeps the sediment down when it rains. Things are pretty dry in my yard. We need some rain.

Awesome report. Too bad you didn't figure out the buzzbait thing sooner. It's hard to be topwater fishing. I usually figure out stuff like that when I get home.
