I was out midday at Jonas and nearly got skunked. Two small rock to about 12" and a small bluefish. It was windy and choppy. Not my idea of a great time. Came home, finished what I needed to do, and thought I'd wonder down to the community beach. I hadn't unloaded the truck from my earlier outing, so when I got down there and saw it was nice and calm I thought I'd give it a shot. Glad I did. I was testing my trolling setup pulling an olive xrap on a mid-light weight rod. The rod suddenly went down and I was convinced I'd hung up on the bottom. I pulled the rod out of the holder and gave it a good tug. The boat spun around. I was about to flip the bail and paddle back (still thought it was bottom) when he decided to run. Awesome. 16" rock. He made several runs and jumped a couple of times. Within half an hour I had another rock at 15, two blues - one at 15, the second a little smaller, and a big fat white perch. All in all a great evening!

I had my first ever kayak fishing trip to Maryland this afternoon. The GPS app on my phone took me right to the Jonas Green park with no problems. I headed out and didn't know where to go, so I just went to the right. I fished along the piers to the right of the park working toward the bridge. I used a chartreuse jig with a spinner blade around the docks in about 10-12 feet of water and caught some small white perch, a small croaker and a juvenile rock. I headed up to the Rt 50 bridge. There was a boat there circling a piling. I fished closer to shore and tried to avoid the other boater and the Naval Academy rowing team. I didn't mind it was fun seeing them come by. After struggling with which lure to use for a little bit I threw a jig head with a 5" Bass Assassin soft bait in "baby bass" color. Its green with a pointed tail. There was some top water action I threw towards and I caught two juvenile rock about 8-10 inches just as the lure hit the water. I kept seeing some larger fish on the X4 Pro so I kind of slow troll/jigged around the bridge when I caught a 22" Rock. That made my trip worth it. Thanks for all the advice. I had fun and will be back again. Next time I want to try the Bay Bridge.Hobie Outback
