  • Very late report on trip to BB

Work has been a little crazy lately so I haven't been able to post my report on a very windy day at the Bay Bridge last week. We launched from G Dock right at first light to some strong south winds and a heavy chop. We hauled tail to the sheltered northern side of the bridge to see what we could find on the rocks. I fished a 3 1/2 inch spook for a while and managed to catch my first fish on top water! I continued fishing the spook to the tune of about 15 ambitious little rocks. Fish were breaking all around us, so we fished the schools for quite a while and caught some more little ones on just about anything you could throw. Later in the day I spent some time trolling a shallow diving crankbait that I couldn't keep the fish off of. We went with the intention of jigging the bridge for something big, but like I always say, better to catch little ones than nothing at all!

Congrats on your first topwater fish. That is still my favorite method of fishing. Casting and jigging can be satisfying, but it's hard to beat seeing a nice fish come up and smash your lure.

Nice job...the bigger ones are starting to show up there, but they will be on the move and hard to track. Jigged up a 29 incher the other day and plenty of dinks =)
