I know a guy that lives near herald harbor is this a good spot I'm sure its on the Severn but don't know the area

Yes, there should be plenty of good fishing both North and South of HH. I imagine Round Bay is probably pretty good right now, too.

Yes, also check older posts from Tacklemake on the Pier and Surf web site. He had a power boat and he'd take guys out on it out of Smith Marine in the HH area. There is also some video on YouTube from September of 2010 i think that targets perch in that area.

If you don't mind a longer paddle, and unless they are out in deeper water, there's generally good perch fishing on around Long Point that looks out at St. Helena's Island. When the weather turns colder, there should be excellent pickeral fishing in the little creeks and coves behind St. Helena's I. too. I grew up in Linstead, and would fish that area now and then, but that was almost 50 years ago. (sh..t, I am getting old)

You'll be fine. If it's windy or the weather acts up, just stay closer to shore. The biggest enemy of a kayaker is wind. If it rains, just head for a pier or a boathouse and wait it out.
