  • Can We Talk? Lol!

With only a few more weeks of warm water left, where are most of you thinking about fishing? I do realize some of you fish all year but when the water temps get around 60 degrees or so I put my kayak away until spring. This fall fishing has been a little different than in the past with all the small Rockfish around and the White Perch being somewhat unpredictable as to location and depth right now, there are decisions to be made.

I was thinking of venturing south to Kiptopeake or maybe Chincoteaque and try to catch some more flounder before its all over, or maybe back to Delaware one more time, but will more than likely stay close to home and hit my locations around the Severn until the Perch leave.

So where are the rest of you Bubbas fishing this month? John, John, Bill, Langston, James, Jay, Martin, Ed,
    Sup?

BTW: The fish I have been keeping lately have very little food in their stomachs, whats up with that? You would think they would be gorging themselves on all the bait that’s around right now in preparation for winter.

Hoping to get out this weekend. Was planning to head south to the promised land (kipto/cbbt), but I dont think the winds will cooperate. I need to come up with a plan soon. I got an overnight "pass" from the wife...I gotta buy her a pair of shoes now though.

My fall fishing days are numbered. October 14 is the due date for our incoming baby, and I start my new job on October 22nd. I'm actually hoping the baby shows up this weekend because it would be nice to spaces things out a bit. With those two things in mind, I'll definitely be fishing locally, if at all, until the dust settles a bit. I was hoping to get a trip to the Severn and the Mattawoman sometime soon, but I don't think either one will be in the cards. I'm hoping the topwater striper action will pick up soon because most of my spots are relatively short paddles. If they pick up, I'll let you know. It might be worth hitting Clark's Landing for some topwater action, but I lost my source of Patuxent River info.

I'll just stick with my usual. Jonas Green and maybe Carr's Wharf. As the water temp drops, the bigger fish should start to move up into the rivers. The top water should pick up too.

Since CBBT is my favorite, guess where I'll head in the next few weeks (depending on weather of course). Big sheepies will still be good for maybe a month. Bull reds are running well now, so CBBT is good to go. As the water cools in the next few weeks, tog activity goes up. So big togs will also be targets. Like last year, I plan to fish until Dec. Ohhhhhhhh......so.....many.....fish.

Ha! That's the truth. It just occurred to me that I got my PhD on October 3rd last year. Hopefully, I'll have a more relaxed October next year.

GB: Don't put the Yak up at 60 degrees. The fishing for stripers is good well into the 50s. Generally, 46 degrees shuts things down in the more shallow water. However, in the 50s the game is still on.

Sorry Bill. Baby, no fishing for you.

                            GB -

My travel schedule is brutal this month (I am writing this from the New Orleans airport on my way to Houston for two more days). I will need to sneak in short trips on the few days I am home (probably in the Severn).

The pickerel are definitely heating up in at least several of the Severn tribs. You need to get in on the action before you call it quits for the year.
