Launched at Middle branch 8:30 AM and lazily paddled toward the railroad bridge knowing the wind was going to pick up. This time out I remembered to bring the depth finder and the battery pack. It indicated an occasional blip and depths of 6-12' Once at the railroad bridge I found balls of baitfish suspended around 8' down in the 20' holes at either end. the moving tide produced a nervous ripple where the hole's side forced the current to the surface. The turntable provided a break from the developing breeze that swept the open water.
THe bait ball remained in the same area for the 3 hours I spent probing the backside of the bridge as the sun climbed higher and the shadows grew shorter. Driftwood cover was holding white perch stripers and LM bass I managed to get a hook set into 1 of each the largest being a 13 1/2 inch Bass that ju8mped twice and tried desperately to get back to its cover.
By 1 PM the breeze turned into a wind and the threatening looking sky hid the sun.
I paddled and sailed back to the launch dragging (not trolling) a lure behind me. the lure fooled a small striper at the Hanover St bridge.
Apparently, and I don't know his for a fact, you need to troll unlaundered 1-$ bills to catch
strippers
