Launched at Jonas Green on the Severn River to do some kayak crabbing (trotlining) with my 600' line baited with chicken necks.* Started laying my line at 8:00am. My normal spot was taken so went to a location that produced for me early in the season. The weather was perfect with no wind and cakm waters.* First run yielded 8 large males that were fat and dark. Quite a few females mixed in but wasnt too bad as the males were steady. Each run produced the same or more each run. Had a packed bushel by 10:30. The quality of crabs were the best all year and they are still in great numbers even though temps are dropping. Hope to get out again next weekend.

Nice. Yesterday afternoon got pretty nasty with a strong south wind. I think you picked the better time to be out. Talked to some boaters that were running a line on the Jonas Green side and they also said they were catching a lot of females, but they had filled a bushel as well.

Southerly that sounds like a great idea. Ive been flirting with the wife about going again this weekend as she LOVES hot crab dip so I told her I would go catch some and make her some. Then freeze extra meat for when she gets the urge again. The water temps were still pretty warm so it seems to be a couple weeks left in the season. Crab soup does sound good on a Cold winter night. Might have to give that a try as Ive never cooked it before.

Nice work! The past couple of years I had a couple of pounds of crab meat in the freezer for winter, but this year I sadly will not as the fishing gods pulled me away from the crabbing gods most of the time...
