  • BB 21 October

On the water at 0345 to work max ebb at 0500. Enroute to the sewer pipe mirage drive failed in spectacular fashion (pics to follow). Center axle wormed itself out, entire mast got separated, led to center set screw shearing off due to excess torque. Quite horrific in the middle of the chesapeake by myself with black waves crashing over me. paddling ensued. Backyard Boats once again stepping up and will fix it for me as soon as I can mail it.

Fishing was good despite the mirage drive calamity. After the 1.5 hr delay, caught a very rotund 30 incher off the piles; my pops joined me then and caught several keepers himself through the morning. I caught a couple more 20 inchers later and called it quits at 0930.

Encouragingly, caught a few on top water, and pops had a 35 incher chase his plug to the boat, then shooed off.

haha me too, in fact I never reached the sewer pipe...drifted back to shore with the wind and tide as I was tending to my wounded vessel, shirtless and soaking wet at 4 a.m. in the 50 degree air. Caught those fish on the bridge piers in shallow water

Nice looking fish and I think you deserved them after enduring some unexpected conditions! I gotta get back out there soon too.

I haven't been out there since last Fall. You're tempting me to start again.

Well done. Sounds like a good morning despite the problem.
