I ate a few 20"+ pickerel I caught 30 years ago from an Eastern Shore pond. Pickerel have high quality fillets ruined by a million little Y-shaped bones. These little Y-bones are called floating bones because they are not attached to any others bones. They just float in the meat and they must be dealt with one by one... and believe me, it ain't worth the effort. Shad have the same problems, bony as heck. Eat white perch instead.

They do put up a decent fight on light tackle. Caught a few yesterday with Matt and it was my first time out this year. Nice afternoon to be on the water.IMG_3555.jpgIMG_3557.jpgShane

Are there that many Snakeheads in Maryland? I moved to GA almost 20 years ago and haven't heard anything about them since they were found in a pond 10+ years ago.
