Spring Rainbows

gafisherman and I met up at Myrtle Grove this morning- I got there early and fished two hours without a hit- lake is very shallow and only 23 acres- I hit something and bent the post on my turbo fins- I was repairing my drive when Daniel (gafisherman) drove up- I told him the lake was no good and invited him to follow me to Wheatly Lake off Route 6 southeast of La Plata- fished three hours and limited out with five nice rainbow trout- I caught two more- one small one I released and one really nice fish I gave to gafisherman- he did not have the hot lure so I gave him mine- I got home at 2 pm- nice day to be my birthday- only bad thing is my battery in my Nikon AW100 was dead- should have charged it up but...it is on the charger now- I'm sure gafisherman will upload his pictures up when he gets on later-

Thanks for the heads up about Myrtle Grove Ron, I was thinking about trying out the lake soon. Saw that you mentioned that it was your birthday today, so it was a very nice day to spend on the water! Have a good one!

Ron, Happy Birthday, I didn't know it was your birthday It was great fishing with you. I got one bite after you left, but no fish, I left around 2:40. It was fun fishing with you. Thanks for loaning me the lure, I'll bring it next time we fish together. Hope you enjoyed your birthday!

We had a feast last night- the fish were delicious- mild, flaky, tasty- yummm...and I got to test out my Christmas present- the Elite 5 dsi gold Lowrance chart plotter- amazing technology- and I do need to get a heavy duty battery- the battery wasn't fully charged, but it started going after about five hours of steady use- but- the detail of the sounder is like "unreal." You can see the individual branches of a sunken tree, big rocks on the bottom and varing degrees of colors as the water gets deeper showing temp differentials... and the color chart is too cool- I have the Navionics chip set for the default and it is really good...darker shades for deeper waters, tracking where you have been- the 5 inch screen is really easy to see- even in the bright sun when you are wearing polarized sunglasses- a great big thank you for my Christmas present from my wife-

They fought really good, too- I had several that jumped out of the water like miniture tarpons, shaking their heads trying to throw the hook- on the UL outfits they gave a real good fight-

Thanks or the report. Gilbert run is one of my favorite spots. The record for the largest redear sunfish is from that lake.
