Hit the water with my canoe this time instead of my kayak to take a friend out on the water for his birthday. He prefers the canoe instead of a kayak. Anyway to make a long story short, the day was beautiful, and there was very little wind on the Potomac. We ended up catching small 12 to 14 inch channel cats, 60 white perch (mostly small like before, we used them for catfish bait), and blue cats 19.5 to 23.5 inches, with my unbelievable catch of the day.....a 34 inch fat blue cat on 6 pound test and a light rod! That is the largest fish that I have every landed on such a small rod with light line. I am glad that my drag was set correctly. I had to fight it for 16 minutes to finess it up from 32 feet of water. It was peeling line on my poor light action rod, and it was a great fight. I had one casualty... my orange fish grippers broke from the weight of the catfish.

Yes Ryan, we filleted them all for bait. The catfish loved them. Dhawk, yes that was us on 495. I saw you when you were on rt 210. We caught up to you later on 495, I thought that I knew you. I expected to get a post from someone later. You had a small car with a green Malibu kayak on top. I thought that maybe you were fishing Mattawoman. Good to see you in passing.
