  • Mallows Bay 5/5

Fished Mallows from 0630 - 1330. Was mainly looking for bass and snakeheads but caught a little of everything. Ended up with 2 snakeheads, 2 bass (lost a good one at the boat), a couple yellow perch / crappie / gills and a white perch. Bass and snakeheads came from out in the ships while most everything else came from the burn basin and the stream.

Going to need a bigger hog trough

ON a texas rigged crawfish ???

What baits did you catch the snakeheads on Chimo?

Bigger one was on a spinnerbait, smaller one was on a hollow body minnow.

Nice going Wayne. How was the water clarity out by the ship hulls? When I was there a few weeks ago, it was very murky.

Visibility was under a foot and maybe less than 6 inches John. Some of the back coves were slightly better. Water felt much warmer than Mattawoman did last weekend and I was planning on trying some topwater but the wind never laid down enough for my liking.

Mytmouse- everywhere they have been introduced they develop a fishery- Florida has a big snakehead fishery- MD/VA DNR has thrown the towel in on eradication efforts, so they think the resident population is so established that they won't be able to kill them off- and by all accounts they are spreading south towards, Tidewater

Ive gotten the gist that the horror stories were extremely overblown as well. They aren't the horrid species that were once thought. They do share the same food sources as other species, and they multiply in extreme rates...but besides that, they dont pose a 'threat' to the eco system
