  • Leesylvania Bass buffet 05-22

I got on water around 5:30 and fish until 8:30. It start out slow, but it picked up nicely. At around sunset (8-8:15) I hooked one every 2 or 3 cast. I think I land around 8 or 10 bass, plus I lost 3 or 4 due to I couldn't set the hook. Near the end, I just hook and check the fish. As soon as I find out it's a bass, I lift it in and unhook, toss it back and curse at it for not being a Snakehead then I continue. I was suppose to get out the park at 8:30, I got out at 9:20. Sorry I left the phone in the car so no picture, plus it was getting dark when they bite hard anyway. Man I'm still pissed, all those bass and not one freaking snakehead!!

I'm with you man. Those slimy bastards fight faster than bass, which makes it more interesting. The initial run of a bass makes me excited, but the initial run of a snakehead leaves me dazed and confused, as in "my lure was just there a half second ago, my line is being pulled under that log over there, but the blow up is behind me!"

The sad thing is I went out of my way to find snakehead. I went super shallow water (no more than 1 feet of water) with still water. I was at snakehead neighborhood yet no snakehead. I swear I let the baby snakehead go if I catch them. If it doesn't give me a decent size fillet, I'm gonna toss them back. And come back for them next year lol.

I was that way until I brought a snakehead home to eat- after that I am good with whatever hits my baits- hard to complain unless it is a skunk- like last week- we went for speckled trout and ended up with a limit of keeper stripers- hard to bitch about bringing home supper...

They'll bite your finger off? Wear a glove and try it.

Like lipping a walleye or a bluefish....once you do it...you won't do it a second time-

I think people just make Snakehead out like a monster. It's just a great predator fish. It is awesome in every ways. It fight great, taste great. And when you watch it destroys the top water bait, you'll be dazzle and hook. And it bite anything, that's the awesome part.

Totally agree...I just wouldn't lip it like a bass.
