With the wind ruling out many of the places I wanted to fish Sunday my wife and I resorted to Plan J.…. Solomon’s Island. When the wind is up and in the right direction there’s some optional spots to fish. Launched from boat ramp under the Route 4 Bridge (Thomas Johnson Bridge). There’s a tackle shop in the parking lot owned by Joe. Very helpful guy. Intent was to jig the bridge pylons for rockfish. Managed a dozen dinks to 17”. Overall it was pretty slow, but as usual the southernmost pylon right up against the beach was the most productive. Switched to bottom fishing for a bit. Caught a dozen perch and a few decent spot. Put the time in and I’m sure you could put a respectable catch together. Didn’t have time to try it but was told that the burned out Navy pier to the west of the ramp has been productive for the usual suspects.
