This was just a quick kayaking crabbing trip that I took after work. I decided to try a different western tributary below the Bay Bridge than I did the week before. I like testing the quality of crabs from different rivers. Maybe next time that I go, I will try somewhere on the Eastern Bay. I only crabbed for 90 mins in 5 to 12 feet of water with a 600 foot snood line, before the rain storms chased me off of the water. The deeper end of the line did better than the shallower part. This was the first time that I re-used a trotline baited with chicken necks. It worked out really well. I ended up with a half bushel of crabs in 90 minutes. The crabs from this river was bigger on average and heavier so far for the year. Maybe I will try the Eastern Bay next time to see how their crabs are.
