fished 2 evenings this week and caught 2 keepers 1 night, and 1 keeper the other night, lots of 15-17 inch fish tho.
caught the 2 keepers on soft crab and the other on a live menhaeden.
have thrown topwater relentlessly without a single swirl, lots of fish on rattle traps and stuff like that though.
during the day ive been croaker fishing on an oysterbar in my neighborhood using my ultralight perch rod and a 1/4 ounce leadhead with a small twister tail. just reel slowly and twitch it everyonce in a while, like you would for flounder or drum.
croaker fishing on the boat is on fire right now though. little ones are hitting bloodworms and fishbites while the larger ones prefer shrimp/live mudminnows. the biggest ones (over 15) have hit live penut bunker ment for rockfish. when the bite is slow ive had god success with sting silvers/ gotchas/ bucktails jigged on the bottom for the croaker as well. croaker are hitting in 20-40 feet, during the day look deeper but shallower at night.
we havent gone flounder fishing around thomas point yet this year but i got about 100 big fat bull minnows ive caught over the past week ( used the little guys for perch but ive been saving the big dogs) so ill write a report to see if they are here yet
good luck!
