  • Chesapeake Beach - Sunday 8/25/13

Fished the rock jetties outside the inlet from 3 pm to dark.

Caught 50+ white perch up to 12.5 inches many 10-12 range all very healthy and fat not one sick looking fish.

Also caught 5-6 small blues 8-10 inch range

    15 rock fish to 16"

    Several croaker to 10"

    One spot at 9"

Broke off one large fish on my ultralight i will make the assumption it was either a legal rock fish or a red drum in the mid 20's range. When the fish took the bait it left a very large swirl. Sadly 4 lb test only goes so far and after taking 30 feet of drag my line gave out.

All in all for an quick Sunday afternoon trip it was a lot of good fishing.

I will be heading back there again one of these days.

I will post pictures of the perch later today.

some very nice perch - congrats!

i recently tried a sort of new recipe with perch filets. i lightly sprinkled with chef prudommes magic redfish seasoning, then dredged in house of autry seasoned flour and fried = truly delicious! the redfish seasoning contributed a very slight crispness and good flavor.

What bait, hook size do you use to catch those perch? And where do you launch your kayak from?

The fishing report sounds awesome. The fileting afterward... dreadful.

                  http://www.fishusa.com/Product/Johns...er-Blade-Baits 3/8oz

Both baits performed extremely well. The thinblade produced bigger perch and rockfish.

I also throw 1/4" jigheads with white gulps but the bluefish just destroyed them every cast so i switched to all metal.

1 hour of filleting later and i had around 10 lbs of fresh perch fillets. my entire office is loving life today.
