Let's try this again as 1st time it didn't go thru:
I launched @ 6:30am into the protected inner from the store beach, fished the docks, shorelines, inlet, and points upriver. Immediately, I hooked into small but getting bigger blues(up to 12"), fat croakers, and spot.
the biting flies were a nuisance when the wind died down so I paddled far offshore where there was a breeze.Baitfish would swim/jump near me and I would soon continue catching chopper blues. I hooked into a few more needlefish and a bunch of shorty flounder. 1 was close to being a keeper but too much flapping-n-flopping to get a measurement. Occasionally a bird would dive nearby to p/u a fish for breakfast. A beautiful day w/low humidity, not a lot of boat traffic near me except for the 1 idiot ignoring the no wake zone by blasting through it throttle wide open while I was fishing. No rockfish for me today but I did see one 16.5" caught from shore along the rocks on a topwater lure just before I launched. In the clear as gin water in the big cove above the inlet I saw a bunch of small rays/skates invading the shallow zone. Before launching I gave 2 snakeheads caught the previous eve in the Mattawoman to TalonAngler since I knew he would eat these before I would get back home. These were the 1st snakeheads I caught in the rain. Usually, it seems their bite turns off when it rains...but not this time. I love paddling amongst the scenic beauty of PLO, bonus when I catch some fish.
