  • Mariner Point "Wed. eve

On a whim, I threw the Yak on top of the explorer and went over to Mariner Point.

    Nice evening, nice paddle.....no fish.
It was the last part of the incoming tide. And the tide seems to have a great impact on fishing there.

I did have a brief chat with another yak fisherman. He didn't do any good either.

That's why they call if "fishin" and not "catchin", right?

I launched from Mariner Point yesterday and fished from around 4-6pm, not a single bite. I did spook what splashed like a big fish though. I let the wind push me a little too close to the reeds and the fish went nuts trying to do a 180 as I started to paddle.

yea, the place is tough if your not there at the right time (in my opinion, the right tide)

Next time, Connowingo......launch, paddle a little and fish!
These words will come back to haunt me, but... I've never been skunked up there. Smallies, perch, and channel cats are usually pretty cooporative. Especially the channel cats. They hit my rattletrap like a freight train. One of these days, I'll get my first rockfish up there.

I've only had 2 skunks out of Mariner Point this year. Both I can associate with cooler weather coming in. Yesterday I paddled out and went straight for the channel to the left that eventually leads to the cluster of homes and boat docks. I figured that the deeper water in that channel would have potential as the water was getting colder, but I guess I was wrong. Ducks EVERYWHERE back there though.
