  • lapidum Monday

Well, I finally got my first rockfish into (onto?) the yak. I've been fishing the susquahanna off and on all summer. Tried for the early morning bite at conowingo a number of time. Hooked up on occassion but never got one to the boat.

However, yesterday launched out of lapidum and finally was successful. Landed two, both about 16". Beautiful, vibrant and chunky. Both on rattletrap type lures. One casting, one on the troll. Not keepers, but mission accomplished.

It's even more rewarding, because I was very tempted to try waters south, but stuck with the susky. Besides, even when I didn't get the rockfish I sought, I still caught really nice smallies and channel cats.

BTW, fished with "Hooked Again". He landed a very nice rock, probably well over 24in., but it looked kind of funky, so he released it. We seperated after that, so I don't know if he had any other success.

My last striper at lapidum also registered on the funk factor. Saturday, the rockfish I caught on the bush were beautiful..and not skipping any meals

SPARKY, where do you launch from to fish the bush?

Willoughby Beach Boat Ramp. It states that it is closed for the season, but the gates are always open. Its right next to the bridge...there is a pumping station inside the gates of the launch, so I think the county needs access most of the time. I have launched there in the winter months with no hassles, and I am usually the only car in the lot.

Another alternative is Otter Point Public Launch, its off Route 40, next to Otter Point Yacht Club. Free...but parking is limited....24 hour access.

Nice man. So you did actually make it to the Bush and found some fish? I'm considering fishing tomorrow somewhere...maybe there?
