Foggy afternoon on St Jerome's Creek , but it was so calm I could not stay off the water. I had planned on fishing St Clement's Island in the AM but the driving rain at 6am caused me to change my mind.
fog wasn't too bad at first but got denser as the afternoon progressed. I had forgotten my compass and have no GPS on my fishfinder, so I did not paddle out to deeper water as I had hoped (been lost in the fog before...unpleasant). I could not see any birds either due to the dense fog. But I picked up a schoolie here and there while trolling so I was happy enough. I even caught a couple on topwater plugs
In the late afternoon, The action got fast and the fish better...not much better, but nearly every fish warranted a measure as they were all close to 18" .....I did get one keeper. As the out going tide spilled over a sandbar and into about 7' of water, I tossed my Slimdog into shallow and worked it deeper. The fish were fighting each other for it, which was highly entertaining. I wanted to stay til dark, but i noticed that, due to the fog, my solar powered bow and stern lights were not charged enough to come on. so after taking my last cast about 5 times, I headed home..sadly no pics of these fish...the action was too good to stop and take pictures of these slightly better fish.
St Jerome's saves my weekend again!!
