  • Beverly Triton Beach - The Bay 11-17-2013

I made a trip to the Bay Bridge on the 15th as well, no luck jigging the bridge and caught two small ones trolling on the way in. But on to the actual report for this post:

I launched at Beverly Triton beach in heavy fog. My plan was to troll and get some exercise and get out to Thomas Point Lighthouse. I made it to the light house, but caught Stripers going to and from and had no luck in the vicinity. I caught a 22" on the way out. I caught a 20" on the way in, but lost a big one because my drag was too tight and he broke off. I caught a 16"er close to the beach on my return.

Glad to hear that Lucky Craft is catching fish. When I troll, it's always one of my lures in the water. The only place it does not produce for me is in the Severn...don't now why...probably superstition and mind games. If you make it out to the Susky flats in the spring, it usually will catch more fish than Xraps.

Nice going Eric. Sorry you did not get to see the big one that broke you off. Remember that spot for another trip.

            Mike,

I caught the 22" and hooked the big fish that broke off on the Lucky Craft SP100 in Crack Blue. Sparky1423 turned me on to that lure and it is my main go to in 10' or more now. I ordered a new one immediately when I got home. The other keeper I caught was on a deep diving crankbait with a rattle in it. I'm not sure what brand it is. It is green fading to light yellow in the belly. I caught fish with it the last two times I went out. I caught the smallest one on Blue Sardine XRAP in 5' of water. Thanks for reading!

That lure has been money! I ordered a new one, but this week, Ill look for deals on a couple more I don't know if you saw in the pics, but I installed gt90 geartrac in the forward trays and put my fishfinder and transducer arm on those. I also added some GT90 on the back hatch and put the Visipole there. And I added Keeleasy to the front and back of the keel and a patch in the middle. I think Im going to put two 4" GT175 geartrac in front of the forward rod holders and use Scotty Gear Heads and Rod holders there. I want to get more spread so I don't tangle as often and that will keep the rod tips in front of me. I'm looking forward to getting back out there and loving the Hobie!

                        Eric,

Nice report and photos on your blog.

Somehow I missed your initial message.

Congrats on the large fish and continued success to you in your new ride.

The sky is the limit on sauces and rubs! LOL But I do have a go to sauce: tamarind concentrate, water, olive oil, salt, pepper, tomato paste, and an Iraqi key ingredient: Date syrup. Dyn-O-Mite! Here is a link where I talk about it: http://www.snaggedline.com/showthrea...Double-Masgouf This is the same sauce I used at the CBKA

As for the rub, an off the shelf curry powder does the trick if you're looking for an easy option.

Wish I could join you this Friday but I already made promises. I'll be back on the water come first weekend of December though... hopefully I can still get some stragglers...
