Welcome, Brian!
No special stickers needed just your MD tidal license. Depending on water temps the spring striper and black drum run in the surf should be getting ready to start, but the 19th might be a little early. Once they start showing fish they be caught around the south jetty and inside the inlet. Flounder should be in the inlet and backwaters by then and Tog around hard structures. Blues are hit or miss in the spring but should be in the surf or inlet and maybe some weakfish or specks in some particular backwater areas.
The Coastal Fisherman is a good source for daily reports and happenings and also check out Sue Foster's weekly Oyster Bay Tackle Reports. Also do some searches on here to find more info. The inlet is no joke and caution is strongly advised if it's your first time fishing the area.Brian

Most definitely there are fish to be found outside the inlet area. I don't do much fishing north of the Rt. 90 bridge or south of the Verazzano bridge very often, but from the inlet north and south to those locations you can reasonable expect to find flounder, bass (mostly schoolies), blues, black drum, red drum (big schools last year - talk about fun!), weakfish, specs, plus your croakers, spot, etc... Of course, like everywhere, there are certain locations that are better than others along that stretch.
North of the Rt. 90 bridge and south of the Verrazano bridge it tends to be shallow water.Brian
