  • Quick Not Catching/Catching Report 4/11 & 4/12

Friday morning and early afternoon (4/11): I fished the susqy flats. I didnt think I could fish the tournament the next day, but I knew I couldnt live with myself if i saw reports of huge fish caught on Saturday. Against my better judgment (I think the water is too cold and dirty) I headed up North. I was not rewarded for my efforts. Lots of guys floating but not catching. At least, I didnt hear of anyone catching anything. After a few hours, I called it a day and headed into work for a later afternoon meeting. Who does that?

Saturday: Ran in to my brother at a local deli and we made the plan to take him out for his first kayak fishing trip. I fished the outback and let him fish the Malibu Mini-X. Paddling is a pain but it is the more stable of the two. I had decent success thus far this year crossing the bay bridge so we made the trip over. Back at shipping creek. Took me a while, but when i found some bait I found some fish. Unfortunately, they werent the size fish I was looking for. Caught 7 or 8 rockfish, all around 20 inches (some smaller). Once I found them, it was just a matter of trolling my Xrap thru them. Little brother caught his first fish on a rattletrap.

Beautiful day on the water and fun time spent with my brother. We both work too much so it was nice to get together.

Now, someone show me pictures of big fish caught on the flats.

So you got into a few of them. Did you have to go out to to the channel? I passed you got going as I was coming in.

Good work on finding fish out of Shipping Creek. Many of us are not finding fish in our local spots -- you travelled a bit to find fish. I fished with you, your brother, and your father on a Walleye Pete trip a year ago. Your brother got the biggest fish that day.
