Went yesterday afternoon / evening with my dad. We caught a little over 30 in 3 hours. A little slow but at least we didn't get skunked. caught them about 50/50 on darts and spoons

Mark and I fished at 6 different spots along the lower Susquehanna this morning, including the spot where Shady was. The bite was not happening for us today. I managed one small hickory shad in 3 hours of casting with a variety of darts, gold and silver spoons, and twister tails. Mark drew a skunk on his first shad outing. We each caught some submerged fishing tackle -- two lures for me and a rod and reel for Mark.

The funniest moment was when we were parked at a pull off along Deer Creek. A DNR police officer drove up in her pickup and asked us what we was doing. We told her we were fishing (but not catching). She said "if you show me your fishing license, I will tell you where the fish are biting". We did as requested, she did as promised, and we drove over to that spot. Apparently it had been doing well all morning but slowed down as soon as we got there. Despite the slow bite, it was great to be outdoors.

The rod and reel had not been in the water long. I cleaned and lubed the reel and it is working fine. I would have rather have had a shad on the end of my line than more fishing equipment but I "caught" a nice white perch rod for later in the year on the Severn.

I've been up there as well having fun catching & releasing the hics too....& trying to keep my line out of the trees.
