I took my bro-in-law shad fishing at Fletchers, Monday, 4-21-14, 10:30am-2:15pm. We fished from shore. My BIL out fished me by 2X!... and this was only his 2nd shad trip ever and 1st time at Fletchers. We caught dozens of hickory and one smallish male American shad (pictured). Action was steady with a slowdown at slack high. The hickories ran mostly mediums with a generous sprinkling of smalls and a dozen large. We used my standard shad rig, mostly 1.5” twistertails and 1.5” crappie tubes on a 1/8oz jighead with 1/4oz bullet weight pegged 2’ up the line. All lures had a fair bit of limetreuse on them somewhere.
Weather was mild, sunny, and calm. Water vis at 3’-4’.
(Oh well, seems snaggedline is not letting me post pictures from my computer, I'll try later)
Later, here goes.
