Had a great day, and never landed a fish. Thanks to kevinfry I know now to check the tide before going. I fished there all last year and never once hit it at low tide. Pure luck. I took my buddy there the other week and finally caught it low. I timed it today to get there at high peak. It was very windy, lots of chop. I soaked some stinky dough for catfish for about 40 minutes and then headed across to a rock bank. Third cast with my favorite day glow orang rooster tail, the one with a fiber optic looking barrel....I thought I hit a snag...then the snag started stripping line and pulled my light rod under the kayak. I got it around the bow and it circled around behind me. I'm grinning ear to ear, no idea what I may have hung. I'm using my light shimano spinning reel with 8lb test. I can't horse whatever it is in. I finally manage to get it to the top, and it is a catfish. I managed to hook him in the top of the back. No wonder he was running around crazy. The line broke and off he goes. If someone catches him soon, get my rooster tail back. I tied my next favorite on after leaving a metallic swim tail minnow in a tree. Yellow rooster tail with a red stripe. I found a small feeder creek, about 15 feet wide. The wind is blowing me all over so I keep circling around after getting a few casts across the front. Something snatches the rooster tail and heads for deep water. I can feel it shaking its head. I'm able to turn it, but can't get it to come up. After a minute, the lure comes back up in the yak with me. It was awesome. After 10 more casts, I hook up again. Same thing, just a longer fight. It circled the yak about twice, then spit the hook. I switched to my heavier baitcaster, but I didn't have any spinners heavy enough to toss with it. Nothing was interested in the swim tail minnow. I tried a rattle trap. Nothing. I would have liked to know what they were, but it was great just to hook up, hear and feel the line running. Long post with nothing to really show, but I had a great time catching nothing today.

The fishing is always good...sometimes the catching aint worth a damn! At least you hooked up for some fun, don't give up!

Yes, but they weren't as tall. Either they lowered them, or they've fallen. They weren't all the way to the bank anymore either.

Maybe DNR finally received enough complaints that the nets are practically on top of the State land... :-/

That, or someone decided to help them fall down.
