  • Mattawoman 4/4

Fished the upper end of mattawoman from about 0630-1700. Caught some hickory shad, a few crappies and about ten bass while fighting the wind and murky water. Other than the shad, I thought I was going to be skunked until the tide started rolling around 1400. Once it did the water quality improved and I banged out the bass and crappies. All the bass and most of the crappies came from one corner of the barge on an 1/8th ounce road runner head with a chartreuse twister tail. Threw top water frogs, t-rigged plastics, chatterbaits, etc without any action at all.

Excellent report. Interesting that water clarity improved with the tide change.

Yup, it really made a differnce. probably from less than 6 inches to better than a foot of visibility. And the report was from May 4th not April 4th...

I saw you pull up one of those bass. I was the guy fishing on the other side of all that metal wreckage with my friend and his son in the tandem. Just past where you we're is where we caught two of our three bass for the day all on chatterbaits, both black and chartreuse colored.

Yup, glad you caught a few. You really have that Cuda rigged out!

It's actually a Jackson Big Rig. Pretty much the Cuda with a over eating problem.
