I trolled out against a stiff wind and whitecaps this morning. Nothing came on the set up that Alan taught me to use end of last winter, so I ended up jigging. Found a nice cluster of boulders just off shore from some rip rap. I probably would have missed them at higher tide. A thin and long one acre area accounted for all but two of the thirty or so rockfish I caught. The first one was the largest. I didn't bother measuring, but it was in the mid 20 inch range. Most of the rest were in the 18 to 20 inch slot. The plastic is one I poured from a Lurecraft mold - a 6 or 7 inch sluggo knock off. If you use a bunch of these, pouring your own plastics is a good way to go. I poured the heads too - Do-It 1 oz Style 9's or Shad Head Jigs. The area was shallow, and many of the fish hit right under my kayak.DSCN3279.jpg
