Thanks all for the kind words. dtandrade, yes it's good I brought the rod, that is my take-away from the experience: never just go for a boat ride, always bring a rod. FRED driver, it does appear to be a site record, I'd feel better if I had a proper measurement on it. I do think I'm being conservative with the 23-1/4" because I've measured the kayak itself based on the photos and it exceeds 24" in those measurements. It was certainly the biggest LM I've ever seen, except maybe that tank at BPS. Runnin, this was Lake Linganore in New Market. It was caught on a Booyah Baits Pigskin jig (not sure of weight, I lost the lure a few casts later) with a large mummichog bird from Confidence Baits. It was in about 4' of water on a flat at the top of a steep dropoff. I hooked and lost a smaller but still decent fish about 5 minutes earlier on the same flat.
