Sunday, grilled and i fished some skinny water on the lower eastern shore of the bay in search for specs and any tardy trophy rocks. launched late around 9am to an outgoing current and it was pretty breezy until about noon. instantly, started catching dinks and schoolie rockfish. the perch are in there THICK as we were getting tons of little hits and pulled up a bunch of mini to 11" perch, all trolling 4" paddle tails. grilled even got a croaker on his paddle tail. i tried a strike king redfish magic spinner and it was crack for the perch, lol. there were some very ambitious perch too, couldnt believe they got hooked they were so small, wish i had taken pics of them. one thing about the spinner, it really vibrates, which then transfers to the kayak. so while trolling it, my kayak had an audible buzzing sound. the water was really murky, couldnt see bottom in 2' of water and lots of floating grass, some areas couldnt even cast without bringing up grass on the lure. i did find this small pocket of extremely clean water, so i switched to a storm curly tail minnow. i instantly hooked up with a 23" spec and not even 5 minutes later, a 22". that was it. couple more dink rocks and off the water around 4.

They are delicious....as someone once told me, they are self basting on the grill in foil. Good job on the specks.

Very good eating, but I try to keep them alive as long as I can before cooking. I never had one out of the bay before though.

Nice! GB and I were fishing a creek behind whortin island Sunday but no specs or reds. The pearch and Dink's were hungry. 1 wp stuffed a 4" gulp folded up in its mouth and it couldn't have been 5.5- 6". Also a few hardheads in the bunch.

Specs are very tasty but don't freeze well.
