  • Snakehead caught in Wicomico River

Caught this Snakehead yesterday around 7:30 p.m behind my house in Salisbury on the Wicomico River during low tide. About 5 yards off the shore with a green tube bait. I've seen them further down the river in a few shallow coves but could never land them, this one was my first Snakehead I've caught in the Wicomico.

Saw your picture on the DNR report earlier today. Congrats on the nice catch!

Glad you got it out of the river, sorry to learn that they have made it to the Wicomico.

Hemingway, I feel the same way. The D.N.R officer that came over and recorded the catch was concerned to see a Snake-head, one of this size for that matter, caught where I was fishing. He said it was probably 3-4 years old. I remember seeing a story from the local news station a few years ago about a S.H caught in Tony Tank pond, which dumps into the Wicomico via dam. About to head out now on the yak, full moon and lag low, hopefully able to catch another.
