  • Piscataway Bowfishing sh & gar

One of my hc bowfishing buds launched w/me
During the outgoing tide and I had fun chasing
The gar, missing them... same w/ the 2 mating
    Snakeheads I saw. I wasn't skunked as I did bring 1 rod w/ me
To try casting too. I caught an 18" LMbass that's my best thus far this year... It was released

& my fishing bud shot a fat sh less than 30" but was beastly.
He also shot 5 gar. I should've paddled with him
But we split up after launching. Since the dudes
Onshore weren't catching we donated all the fish to them.
They were so happy. I'll be going back.

Your buddy was up the creek with my buddy and me. We cruised together for a while, we are rod and reel only. He kept us entertained as we saw him sticking gar pretty consistently. The party back at the launch site was pretty bumpin, you all came back about 10 or 15 minutes before us. The tide was very less than ideal also.

Why shoot the gar? Are they invasive?

That's a really good question. The gar have been around longer than people and pose no threat. Must just be a desire to kill, glad no stripers or bass were up on top minding their own business.

You cannot shoot just any fish... Just like hunting...only those you
can see that are legal to shoot. Additionally, the gar were given to hungry
Folks who will eat them. Likewise, moondoondude, I saw you & your buddy from a distance,
then, I missed talking to you when you returned to the launch. I had to keep
Track of the drunk dudes...didnt want anything to go missing. I'll look
          For you next time.

bowfishing is a legit sport and if taken within regs we should let them practice it.They are doing all sportsman in our area a service hunting snakeheads and cownosed rays......wish you buddy was down our way these days...the cownosed rays are so thick you can't troll a spoon anywhere.

Glad to see the fish go to people who will eat them. I believe in the food chain but hate to see any living thing die for no reason.
