  • Severn continues to disappoint...

Went out this morning for some crabbing and fishing from jonas green. In almost three hours, I caught one crab a few perch, and a few spot... I don't understand... is it still the long cold winter thats making things take a while to really get into summer mode, or should we be concerned of something else?

    Ryan,

Just so you know it is not you. Four of us went out yesterday and got the big skunk. No perch, no rock,no croaker, no blues . . . nada. Unless you count baby blues chewing the tail off my gulp as a "bite" I didn't even get a bite.

I've fished the docks in little round bay every Sunday since Mid May-ish. This is the slowest I've ever seen it at this time of year. Normally around mid-June, you can throw a bare hook in and pull up a perch. So, no, it's not just you guys. However, I did pull up this nice 13" perch on 6/22 at about 6:00pm. Caught while bottom bouncing a 1.5" silver kastmaster spoon in about 8' feet of water right next to pier pilings. Air temp, 81, slightly overcast.

Hopefully it will get a little more active in the coming weeks, I miss being able to catch dozens of fish and feeling like I'm better at fishing than I am.

Now that you mention it, 13" is the size for the MD angler challenge entry... Although, I'm not sure if this photo would qualify as significant proof- you have to use your imagination to make it a full 13" haha.

See my Monday report for the same general area. I think the perch fishing is gradually getting better. Not sure about rock yet, I"ve just had a couple in the 10' inch range in 3 - 4 times out.

One thing I didn't mention in my Monday report; I didn't see quite as much grass as I did a week or two ago. Not sure of the significance of that is, if any: http://www.snaggedline.com/showthrea...Monday-June-23
