Game 1. I took up Doug S's generous offer and we launched just upriver from Cedar Point, north side of the River. This is very close to where I grew up, and I really had not been on that section if the River in several decades. The River and Yantz Cove look so different from what I recall in the 50's, 60's and 70's! The homes are so much larger and any available sand lot we played on was built on.
In spite of the pleasant paddle down memory lane, including bumping into an old friend on his girlfriend's pier, the fish, other than a half dozen +- smaller perch, had other designs. All in all though, Game 1 was a fun time, and it was great meeting Doug.

Game 2 - with family away, and high tide beckoning at @8:40 pm, I decided to give the River another shot at redemption, this time launching from my usual spot down River at @ 6:00, twelve hours after Game 1. The first hour or so, I felt like I was riding a tricycle at the Daytona 500! Donzi's, Cigarettes, big cab cruisers all putting out big wakes. Thinking like the fish, I finally ducked into a quiet creek not far Rt 50 Bridge, and worked the nooks and crannies in the shallows. The first cast yielded a fat 9.5 inch perch, and after a few more casts, I moved on, working the rest of the creek to a few strikes, but nothing more. Just before leaving, I hit the first spot again, and boom - a near citation perch 12.5 inches! Both fish were caught on a white 3/8 oz jig with a chartreuse 4" Gulp.
I am looking forward to more early am and evening double headers coming up this weekend!
