  • Topwater Fly Fishing for White Perch in West River

I was out in the West River last week and caught quite a few white perch using a beetle spin. Has anyone had luck catching them with little topwater poppers on a fly rod?

In summer months, I think you'll find w perch at or near the bottom in cool, dark places like drop offs and holes under piers. At sunrise and dusk, they'll come farther into the shallows near jetties and grassy areas to feed,
especially at high tide. You may try poppers then.

Thanks! It sounds like I will have to try some clouser minnows to get to the bottom.
