Cool, thanks! We're going to get out there early next week, maybe Monday or Tuesday depending on the weather.

None bettah' than fishin' than catchin' :-)
and since your "life partner" suggest you go catchin'.... well if she tells you to rockfishin'.....
      Happy Wife.. happy life :-)

Some boater came around the island today looking for perch down at the meet and greet.
I said "ain't heard" none down around these parts....
Mumms the word :-) not really... but can't give away all the secrets.

Glad you had a good day.

You are correct. The combination of Baltimore's heavy industry diminishing and more rigorous water pollution control rules for industrial discharges resulted in a much lower total discharge of pollutants to the harbor between the mid-1970s and the late 1980s. I presented a paper in 1989 at a Chesapeake Bay conference. I had data to show a noticeable reduction in the pounds of industrial pollution going to the harbor. I also found some data showing improved growth of micro-invertebrates in the harbor sediments. While the harbor is far from pristine, it is cleaner than it was in the 1960s and 1970s.

In some ways, it's easier to control point industrial type pollution I suppose.
The bigger challenge is the non-point run-off from roads, farms, chicken producers, and sewer and septic failures and common sewer overflows. Hopefully, we'll keep making headway.

Ryan for what it's worth the fish were tight to the bridge pilings...the day I fished...much better bite then away from the pilings... If you fish there in the future if I can get out like to throw sum bait with you. It would be a privledge to fish with ya. Phil

Nice Job. Havent been out to try any perch jerkin yet this year and a nice perch dinner sounds pretty good.

Regarding white perch and bait size, their tendency to hit larger artificials designed for stripers and LM bass amazes me. On more than one occasion I've removed a perch from a lure almost as long as the perch itself.

Right Mark. I tend to get the grandaddys on jigs with 4" inch Gulps, but the're few and far between. I caught a big one on a minnow last year on the bottom.

Being the cheap skate I am, Wal-Mart has a minnow trap for under $9 bucks ( as opposed to Angler's price at over $20). I think I'll try some larger minnows near the bottom and report back.

Nice Ryan. Did some bottom fishing on Sunday from shore on the Severn and had non stop action. Had 2 rods out and constant action for 3 hours. Kept 13 big spot and 11 croakers sent a lot back to get bigger. Fish tacos this week;-)

Nice going Ryan. I don't know how I missed this thread!

I was out there on Friday as well. I tried trolling for Stripers first using the trusty Sparky's Rig with no hits (I wasn't even marking fish which I thought was odd). I managed a few 10.5-11" Croaker and a couple of Perch. I had a short window that day and I felt like I spent too much time trolling....

Hey Surfdog, What kind of rod do you use for fish this size from the shore? A regular surf rod?

That's a good looking sink of fish!

With all the big Spot in the Bay this year, my new goal is Citation Spot...Can it be done in the upper bay?

Thanks, I only had a small window of fishing too, only was out for about 2.5 hours.
