  • Mattawoman 7/12 report

We launched out of Slavins this morning around 6 am. Fished the Lilly pads to the right and had one hook up there. We worked the pads pretty hard and nothing there so we headed up stream to the wreck and that little dome island? Nothing all the way up there, we took a left at the island and fished that all the way to the back and nothing there either. There were 4 of us in yaks and we were throwing everything at them but nothino was biting. Decided to take a lunch break and fish the out going tide back to Slavins. We finally got into some fish on the way back, but they were yellow perch and blue gill. Only one tiny large mouth was caught. The bugs were horrible. Tiny beetles everywhere by the thousands. Fishing was horrible and has been for a while. I really think the high Temps are keeping the fish tight lipped.

They changed the name a few years ago to Mattingly Park... but don't let that confuse you... that's the one that used to be called Slavin's Ramp.

You'll see a sign on 210 pointing to the left that reads "Up The Creek Rentals". Turn there on Mattingly Ave and follow to the end.
