Got a late start crabbing Friday because of an early appointment, but I still headed out anyway because of the beautiful weather. Laid down down 600' of chicken neck laden trotline and waited. Tide was just starting to fall. The crabs were very large 7.5-8"...and probably a 9 incher that I couldn't net. The problem....it took 6 hours to get a dozen. So while they were huge delicious crabs, I had to pay my dues to get them. If it weren't for the quality of crab, I never would have stayed so long for so few. For my wife and I, it was plenty.
This was my first crabbing trip of the year, and first time crabbing with the Torqeedo 403. I still ran the trotline with the Mirage Drive, but did my return trips to the beginning of the line with the Torqeedo...made those 6 hours of crabbing painless.
I also got to try out the Surf to Summit fishing shirt, and I'll say it'll be a standard in my rotation. It's made of mesh, similar to the pants that I wear, so it dries fast and allows the breeze to blow through. It was nice. They liked what I had to say in the book and they sent me the shirt and some other promo stuff that I'll give away at some point.
Crabs were delicious and those Flying Dog IPA's went down smoothly....probably a little too smoothly ;-)
Pics with descriptions are posted here....look at the size of these things. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1¬if_t=like
