  • Friday 8/15 Key Bridge, weak outgoing tide.

I put in at Ft. Armistead again and caught a weak outgoing tide. Jigged the pilings and caught some nice white perch. Some perch over 12". A few dink stripers. I am really looking forward to hooking up on a bigger striper. Patience.

I jigged a gulp minnow next to the pilings. I caught the bigger ones at the second piling from the AA side. I noticed I had to have the jig right up against the piling and work it off of a corner in the little bit of tide that was flowing to catch the bigger ones. Smaller 7-9" perch where everywhere. The bigger ones were tight to the concrete.

the last few times i fished and jigged the pilings and or used bait the better fish were tight to the pilings as well... i have had my best luck at the third piling for perch and rock...also have caught some large katfish there last time i fished the pilings two kat 28" + one on a light rod just held on for about 5 minutes or so till i could pull some line... the rockfish are there... i have found a few now and again on the pilings...then after a while and many trips i started to move away from the bridge and have had some fair to repectable days near the bridge but not on it. just i thought imho... best of luck always!!
