It became a short fishing day on a weekday!
I was itchy. No fishing for two weekends in a row was a torture. I took a weekday off (Dec 10th, 2014), and drove 3.5 hours to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel launch site.
As I expected, the frequent gusts discouraged me. So I fished for specks in Elizabeth River, the backup, in VA. Actually, I brought my Hobie Revo (equipped with Ram Tubes for trolling), not the Hobie Outback for CBBT or CHSP. Yes, I knew it's been very windy for days.
While trolling from Top Rack Marina to I 64 Bridge, I caught a trophy speck at 28.5” (7 LB 14 OZ) on the paper. That was more than enough for me. I packed and headed home early to avoid HRBT and Springfield (I 95) traffic jams. I stopped by Ocean East II for trophy Speck registration.
When I measured it again at home it was 28 7/8" with pinched tail.
